Today was a day to be remembered in the year of 2011 for the Frisbee Club. The Annual General Meeting was successfully held in the afternoon. Not many came, but the spirits of each frisbee club member were more than enough. Vote session was held and this were the final result:

Helo everyone. Welcome back to CHS Ultimate Frisbee blog. For your information, we are having our 2011/2012 Annual General Meeting this coming Friday (15/7). A new batch of committees (2011/2012) will be selected on that day. So, all members are required attend this AGM, morning session members and afternoon session members. Please gather at class 5S4 (Block A) at 12.35pm. This session will be held until around 1.20pm. So, please do come and support your friends. Your attendance is compulsory.

Monash Hat 2011

Yes, the 2nd Monash Hat has finally returned ! Hat is a not a competitive tournament. It is where all ultimate players gather and have a fun day together. So here are the details that I know so far.

Date: Early May (Shet, Form 5's are having exams)
Venue: Unknown (but above Astaka's mud pits standard)
Details: 10 teams of 14 players (I think players are placed at random)
Ratio: either 4:3 or 5:2 (depends on the girls that are coming)
Fees: between RM25/RM30 per player pending budget reforms.

Lunch and water is provided. FUN is also there ALL DAY. XD
The 1st Monash Hat - Players are divided into groups of colours (Red, Yellow, Orange, Green and Blue) I think they won't be providing any shirts this time. Everyone just have to bring one black and one white shirt each to keep costs as low as possible.

This is just a rough information from the organisers. Will update soon ! xD

CHS Table Tennis & Frisbee Workshop 2011

Hi, members. In order to make club activities more interesting, Frisbee club has cooperated with Ping Pong club to organise a workshop.

This is a one day event brought to you by CHS Table Tennis & CHS Frisbee Club. Besides conducting talks to expose you guys to Table Tennis and Frisbee, we have planned many interesting activities/games for you guys. You get the chance to break some ice and meet new friends from another club. Ain't that awesome ? Besides that, CERTS and HIGH GERKO MARKS will be given to participants.

Below are the details about this workshop:

Date: 2nd of April 2011 (Saturday)
Venue: CHS PJ (Gather at Ping Pong room)
Time: 8.30am till 6.00pm
Organiser: CHS Table Tennis & Frisbee Club
Fees: RM10 per person
**NOTE: Spaces are limited to 50 participants ONLY.
(First come first serve basis)

Things to bring:
-1 spare pair of dark-coloured t-shirt and pants (some activities involve water)

Hello my fellow HUATimates,

Sorry for such a late post on UKM, been busy. So here goes, I heard many “sorry” eh that day, don’t be and instead be proud like I am. Your heart must have sank when you saw Take 1 and El-Ninos in the same group(we captains tried to change but no time). Don’t worry about the loss, instead take it as a challenge, maybe challenge us back end of the year see how much you have improved.

UTeM(UFO) is a uni team from Malacca, evenly matched with you guys, lotsa semangat which is damn good. Btw you guys are the youngest team that day I think, heard got another USJ team but didn’t have in the end.

Good : Your spirit!(Most important thing in Ultimate) if there is a spirit award, surely you guys have high chance of getting it. The fun you guys are having, my time in CHS didn’t have such a big team also.

Bad : Well, hmm…. Ahhh…..ahh…. ahh…. Being the youngest team lo, hard to play against adults and being new, making mistakes, and losing games. Hope you take it as a motivation.

To learn : If you have watched Take 1 or AUR games, you would have noticed some system of playing(strategy). That is what you want to achieve, and before that, most of your turnovers are because of bad decisions and bad throws. Basic skills have to be practiced. And also don’t forget the intensity of a tournament! How hard other people defense, makes it that much harder for you to attack, and you have to defense even harder as well.

Guys : Keep having fun, train hard and improve lo, HUAT ah!

Girls : Learn from Take 1 and AUR girls, they tapao every other team. Hope you learn something from them, don’t give up, they are the pro among the pro girls. Do drills I introduced and practice every other thing.

For the guys, one of my teammate commented he like Siang Yi’s enthusiasm that he brought to the field. I personally liked everyone else’s efforts too, Yu Wei, Wooi Teik, Jian Wei MVP, DaWei, Ting Jien 3Pointer, Gan Zhang Superman, Jian Bang and all.

Keep this in mind, sucky tournament no problem, good experience bad experience is also experience, with experience you will improve, and you all guys and girls just had!

Hmm… that’s all I can think of right now, best of luck for coming tournament!

UKM Ultimate Open 2011 ^_^

HUATTTTTTTTTTT ARHHHHHHHHHH ! That's our slogan for this UKM Ultimate Open 2011. It's a wonderful experience for the new players and a test for the regular players. The score didn't turn out the way we expected, but I am already satisfied with our performance. We get to spend time together (the whole freaking day) and learn some valuables tips from each other. Some may slowly understand the way to handle perfectly, some may not. So, we have to work hard, stay strong, never give up, never back down and persevere. As you know, perseverance is a key to success. So if we continue to practise on Friday and Sunday, soon enough you'll see the results. On the other hand, there's some of you still have alot to work on/improve, I won't tell who's who, you know that by yourselves. Tackle that area of weakness and try to improve as much as possible without neglecting your studies. Conclusion : We did our best today and walked out as CHAMPIONS in our heart. Don't blame yourself for doing the wrong moves/throws/runs. Prove to us that you can do it in the future. Nothing is impossible, I strongly believe that you can do it. Anyway, thanks to everyone in the CHS Ultimate for being able to be a part of this team. Hope that we can still persue our dream of becoming champions in the future. =D

CHS girls team a.k.a Drillers did very very well today. You'll won matches. That is incredible since at least 50% of you all are first-timers. Keep up the good work and take some advices that I mentioned above, I'm sure you'll can get better rank in the upcoming competitions. =D

Now, let's switch the topic to el ninos and Take 1. Thank you for always being there for us. Thank you for being able to share some tips with us. Thank you for allowing us to achieve our dreams in the ultimate world. Lastly, Thank you Thank you Thank you. We sincerely appreciate what you have done for us in the past, present and in the future. Not to judge anyone but Ethan, you have been the most influential people to us, CHS Ultimate that have countlessly and patiently teach us all sort of things. And we thank you for that. Congratz to you and your teammates as well as el ninos for achieving success in this competition. No worries, there's still more competitions for us to vs each other again. Who knows ? May be someday CHS will surpass you'll and be champions? HAHAHAHA just joking. =D

ALL CAPTAINS - Siang Yi, Jia En, Ethan, William/Darren. Give yourself a pat on the back. You guys did a great job today, leading respective teams efficiently and wisely. May be some strategies may have leaked holes, but there's always room for improvement. =D

So, let us all mount to greater heights and achieve the impossible. HUATTTTTTTT ARHHHHHHHHH !

To all CHS Ultimate players :

There are the things that you need to know/bring for this upcoming UKM Open:

- 12/2/10 (Saturday) – 8.30am till 4.30pm
- A bus is rented (24-seater)
- Gather at Esso/7-Eleven at 6.45am !
- CHS Ultimate – consist of 12 men
- Bring RM30 (RM12 – bus fare, RM10 – entry fee, RM8 – personal usage)
- Attire : 1 PJK t-shirt, 1 Red t-shirt/jersey. (It is advisable to prepare1 more set)
Long Pants/Knee Length pants. (NO short pants)
- Sports shoes/football boots ( Bare-footed is not advisable)
- Cap (Optional)
- Sun Lotion (Advisable – you won’t wanna get burnt under the scorching hot sun!)
- Sufficient water/energy drink (Around 2L++ pls)
- Your Discraft (Practices in between matches)
- Small towel (Advisable)
- Energy bar/Food (Their lunch is a packet of shit rice+vege only)
- Cutleries (disposable fork and spoon coz they just give you the packet of shit rice)
- Muscle cream (Optional - especially for those who often suffer from muscle cramps - GAN ZHANG!)
- Do not do any vigorous activities on Friday afternoon/night that may injure you or physically bother you.
- Sleep early. You won’t be regretting this !

Hello, it was a superb view, to see 50 people wearing shirt of same logo playing frisbee on the same field.

Thanks to the new policy, hope the committee can keep on with it.
Frisbee could be a casual or a competitive sports, depending on how you think and what you want.
Whatever it is, what make ultimatae special, is this

The SPIRIT OF THE GAME

This is a social sports. You meet new friends, new lengluis, new lengzais, or even you life partner on the field.
You learn how to speak and how to communicate with your teammates.
When you are playing in the beach, you will see this!

Cool right?

You have to keep the sporting spirit whenever you are holding the disc. Dont anti social because this is what makes ultimate a really really special sports.
See got now people come, say hi to them!
See people dont know how to throw, teach them lah!
If really dont know how to throw, hold her/his hand and guide them as like they are your partner :)

Alright that's it, back to serious stuff.
What should you guys really work on (especially those who are going to UKM):

Straight / flat throws. ( No curve! It's not a cool thing if you can throw a curve nicely)
Attack the disc when you are receiving. Catch it as like that is your dinner and there are competitors who want that dinner too. GO FOR THE DISC!
Defense : Follow your marker as like he/she is your rival. Tight marking tight marking, if he wins, you lose. He loses, you win. No WIN-WIN. Just DONT LET HIM GET THE DISC.
Clean cuts. Put all your effort in doing a cut. Use all your saved up energy to a nice cut, is always better than you jog around until you run of energy. and IMPORTANT : if you failed to perform a good cut(your defender is too near to you), GET AWAY so you dont block the cutting path of other people.

These are the four things you guys should work on every week. Thats the basics of the basics.
Set an aim for yourselves, like, less than 5% of drops. And try to achieve it in every training.
You are in advantage compared to other people because you started playing ultimate much more earlier. So achieve ONE target at a time, you have lots of time.

For CHS UKM team, we do enjoy training and coaching you guys. Great discipline and semangat. That's the mentality you should keep on. And i believe ethan feels the same way as me.
We would love to come chs more often and pass down our knowledge to you guys,
so if one day you see us disappear suddenly, you know what happened.
anyway, Great job for the captain and vice captain for bringing everyone together!! really a great job.

Updates - UKM Open 2011

I've received news from the organiser that UKM Open has been postponed to the 12th of February 2011 from 8-5pm. It's still 14 players per team, single gender. Fee at RM140 per team, ie RM10 per person. Girls interested can contact me. I'll forward the relevant forms to Litian/Shauna when I receive them and will post any relevant information here. Even if it's been postponed, there isn't much time to train so hope you guys train hard! Maybe you guys can get some pointers from Bryan while he's still around =)

Penang's first ever ULTIMATE HAT Tourney - Saturday, Dec 4th!

FYI - for the newbies to Ultimate, a Hat Tourney is one in which you enter as an individual and names for teams are selected anonymously from various groups of players with comparable skill and experience - so hopefully there's somewhat balance to the teams.

The great thing is that you get to meet new people and many more are welcomed into the Ultimate mix who may enjoy playing but not have opportunity to be part of a team/club experience on a regular basis.

More info to follow, but it WILL be a mixed tourney - all day Saturday - venue to be confirmed...as well as costings. Just wanted to get word out so everyone would save the big day...DECEMBER 4th!

-For those of you who can make it, a Hat Tourney is a really good way to learn plenty of new things, meet people and gain exposure/experience!

MUDDY LEAGUE (Klang Valley League restructured)

Ratio- 4:3, teams can negotiate ratio of the game before match day

Venue: Home team, club teams who do not have a field need to rent, borrow, beg or steal.

Game duration- 80minutes or first to 16. Half time at 9. One time out per half and one float, in total 3 time out per game for each team.(float-a time out that can be used anytime for the team holding possession)

Length of field- 37x100,end zone 18x37 (team who does not have sufficient length can the most shorten the length of the field by 20meters)

Schedule of league: Begins December 2010. Each team will receive 1/4 of their fixtures. Teams whose unable to complete their fixtures within lose schedule (1 month duration, amendable) are consider walkover for the team who are ready to play. Team can appeal to push forward one match to next given fixture (Only applicable with valid reason). Duration of the league depends on the number of registered teams.

Fee-Around RM10-RM25

Registration date line- team bids(November 3rd), players registration (1st December)

Terms n Condition
1)All teams must maintain SOTG at all times
2)Team hopping is not allowed
3)No adding players after players registration
4)Unregistered players are forbidden from playing

It will be held at Catholic High School, from 4pm to 7.00pm for 5 days.

- Warm-ups that will actually *tire* you, while preparing you enough to play top-form almost immediately.

That was a post written by me last year, to kim, because that was so-called her "last" tournament.
Then, later, she participated in MUO anyway.

This time, the same thing.

So the fact is,

We lost a talent.

Anyway, kim's story started from last's year UKM open.
That was her first frisbee tournament and she played for the girls team.
Then she was spotted as a talent by william shak, kononnya,
and then being manipulated by this shark, she was in the same team as william, me, weijiat, kok choon, yaojie, and junyik in the chs-taylors frisbee camp.
Unfortunately, we emerged as champion in the mini tournament. *FATE*

Alright guys, the votes are in and we WILL be having an el-ninos+CHS Intensive Training Week. The 6% of you who don't want it can just go play pingpong or something.

Oh wow within the last 30 seconds I came up with this acronym: Training Week, Intensive! CHS & El-ninos, or TWICE for short (lol wtf).

Oh and for our improvement (and for the sake of being etymologically correct), TWICE will be held twice a year; once in June and once in December.

The winning date is "Every day for both weeks, HARDCORE!!!". I think this is kind of impractical. The runner-up is every weekday for two weeks. This, to me, is a better one; there's time to rest and do other stuff. However, some people may be really busy on weekdays and only free on weekends, so both are still options to me. Oh, and the Taylor's 2011 people have a break in the second week, so we're doing both. To be confirmed.

I've been wanting to hold an intensive training week for a while now - one hardcore training week that will improve every single aspect of our game. For now, I'd just like some feedback on what you guys think about it.

The CHS mid-term hols are from the 5th to the 20th of June, and the Pre-U people should be done by then too. I'll be back by late May, while captain's only going to be back in early July. I've briefly discussed with him, and he's alright about having it without him. Personally, I'd really like for capt to be in on it too, but there just aren't any dates available. If anyone can find a better date after early July, please let me know.

I'm *never* going to release the exact itinerary for the day, cause then some people will skip if they don't like what they read >:D

well,that goes for the 2nd day of training after hari gerko. it was defitnitely better than the first. the first was a total crap. only 4 new members show up. but on friday.... WOW. around 50+ ppl show up on the field. that was some real good improvement. thousands of apologies to those who were expected a pickup match. well,the field was under construction. they poured semen on some parts of the field. and i wasnt allowed to play pickup matches says mr.lim kian siong. we'll see. i think we'll could probably play pickup matches on the coming week. hope the same faces will show up on the coming week =X new faces is good too. haha
oh and btw, clement and i arent showing up on the coming training and so on. we'll be showing ourselves around march. sorry for everything though

IMHO, u8 aint in thier full form yet, if not i dun think we even have the slightest chance to beat them. they even used alot of new players, unlike us. i think im the largest factor that some of the players didnt have enough game time. sry if i had screamed or cursed anyone on the field. (if lidat i need to apologize everyday liao, FML)

another thing, chs won but chs is using an outdated line up. dat day got 16 chs ppl, but technically only litian tashauna and siang yi will stay in chs team for 2010. chs really gotta do something if you all wanna keep the standard. where are all those form 5s? why there is no intensive training during the long and dull holiday and do we still have saturday training? hari gerko is near, i do hope something will come out and surprise us that u all had secretly planned something awesome.

or do you all need our help on friday training or wtv, we are ready to help, at least i m. i got no college study till cny =)

Dalam konteks ini, stack yang tersebut dapat mengelakkan clogging dengan effective. Bak kata peribahasa 'bersatu teguh, bercerai roboh'. I know i should be staying at my BLOoDY room lying on my BLOODY bed studying the BLOODY Khalifah. But due to the unresisting urge to toss a disc after stopping play ultimate for, 2 days *lol*, this BLOODY blog sadly became the victim for me to blast out my stress.

OK, i'm not talking anything about history. Yes, since this is a frisbee blog so we shall talk abit about FRISBEE.

Sharing out mine and some of the seniors thought about the current CHS frisbee level:
-Every game of Every training of every week of every month of every year, anyone that took a glance through the field will have a thought in their mind : WTF WALAO, a CLUMP of homo sapiens running CHICKENLY on the grass chasing a plate.*notice the word a CLUMP* We as a frisbee player will say, : WTH, CLOG LIKE HELL la.
**This is actually one of the major mistake of every amateur team, which i believe even el-ninos sometimes encounter this problem. But the scenario in CHS is worse. Clearly, none of the CHS players are aware of this problem, even if they are, they can't help themselves in solving this case.
Why? *sry ah i have to be straight in this*
Firstly the leaders of the team do not understand in what way the game should behave, means even themselves often clog the gaming zone. And, what are drills for?
TO IMPROVE THE FLOW AND MAKE THE PLAY MORE DYNAMIC. *as in everyone knows what to do now and next*.
Yes, everyone knows this thing. But, this can only be done when they are applying what they learned when they did the drills into the game-play. So problem arise now,
Did you guys learn from the drills?
Ans : Not so. *my view*
so How?
I would say, the crucial key for a team to improve is their leader has to be well prepared always, having the alertness to detect every mistakes everyone did *ok, not every*, having the ability to utilize every second to maximize the output, and the most IMPORTANT ONE, having the passion to double triple quadruple quintuple the effort to improve the team.
(this is what we call a leader)
Of course lah, every member of it have to work really hard too. IF
YOU PEOPLE WANT TO BEAT U8 SOAR. *your aim aren't set for nuts*

Not to mention the foundation of everyone(throws, cutting, etc.) isn't strong enough, even mine are weak. Just practice more, watch more video, see more people play, and play more.

I may not qualify to comment,
but this is just what i'm thinking currently.
